GARMISCH, Germany -- The time has finally arrived, beginning May 21, to open the doors for service member guests at Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in beautiful Garmisch, Germany.

Consistent with host nation rules for hotel visits, all guests ages 7 and older will need to provide vaccination documentation or a negative COVID test. Occupancy will initially be limited, so guests are encouraged to reserve soon to ensure availability.  Masks will still be required in all the common areas of the hotel. Guests are also responsible for following host nation and military guidelines regarding travel. A two-day cancellation policy will be maintained through June due to the dynamic nature of travel restrictions.

“The staff and I are elated to welcome back our guests,” said Brian Borda, general manager of Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, an Armed Forces Recreation Center Resort. “The safety of our guests and staff will remain our number one priority. I am confident the improvements we made to the property while closed will have a positive impact on the guest vacation experience moving forward.”

To ensure physical distancing guidelines are met, some normal hotel services like housekeeping and dining may still be limited. The pool, hot tub and gym will be open for guests to once again enjoy, but with limited hours and capacity. Guests will also be able to rent e-bikes or play the new mini-golf course during their stay. Mountain gondolas and outdoor seating at local restaurants are also beginning to reopen based on declining COVID incidence rates.

Be awe-struck looking up at the biggest mountains in Germany from your room balcony. Don’t miss another moment creating memories with the family, while Edelweiss Resort staff focus on ensuring a safe vacation experience.
