Eighth Army held a sustainment summit May 7 at its headquarters on USAG Humphreys, South Korea. Before the day-long meeting began, numerous awards were presented to outstanding logistics, maintenance and sustainment Soldiers and civilians. The awards ranged from the Eighth Army level to the Department of the Army level.
Awardees were recognized through the annual Chief of Staff, Army Supply Excellence Award Program and the Chief of Staff, Army Award for Maintenance Excellence Program.
The fiscal year 2019 USARPAC and DA awards were presented as the evaluation at these levels was not complete at last year’s ceremony. The DA winners from fiscal year 2020 have yet to be announced and are still in the evaluation process.
“Essentially having three DA winners from Eighth Army is a huge deal and these units have the best supply and maintenance programs in the Army,” said Capt. Zachariah Eubanks, Eighth Army G4.
Once a unit wins the Eighth Army award in a category, they are selected to compete at the USARPAC level and then subsequently at the DA Level if they win a USARPAC award.

Congratulations to all the awardees from Eighth Army!

Chief of Staff, Army Award for Maintenance Excellence Program
The Army awards for maintenance excellence are conducted each year to recognize Army units and/or activities that have demonstrated excellence in maintenance operations. Each unit is evaluated on their effectiveness ensuring that Soldier competency is maintained. Assessments of each unit in the categories of attitude and effective leadership are rated with a benchmark based on those of past winners, and the tenets of exceptional maintenance processes that were exhibited are validated and ranked. After achieving outstanding results at the Eighth Army level, units will move on to represent Eighth Army at the USARPAC and Department of the Army competitions.
