Fiscal 2020 Army Safety Awards of Excellence announced

FORT RUCKER, Alabama ─ The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center recently named winners of the Fiscal 2020 Secretary of the Army and Chief of Staff, Army Awards of Excellence in Safety.

“The accomplishments of these winners reinforce the importance of proactive risk management integrated throughout our plans, operations and training,” said Gen. James C. McConville, Army chief of staff. “Effective loss prevention is central to Army readiness and is especially important in light of force reductions and resource challenges. Thank you for your hard work and accident prevention efforts.”

To be considered for an award, both individuals and organizations must have made significant improvements and contributions to mishap prevention, among other criteria, during the previous fiscal year, according to Department of the Army Pamphlet 385-10, Army Safety Program.

Awardees are as follows:

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award, ACOM/ASCC/4-Star Commands: U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award, ASCC/DRU/FORSCOM/3-Star Commands: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award , ASCC/DRU 2-Star Commands: U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (U.S. Army Materiel Command)

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award, Army Divisions and all other 2-Star Commands: U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill (U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command)

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award, DRU and 1-Star Commands: 9th Mission Support Command (U.S. Army Pacific Command)

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award, Brigade/Equivalent: U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Watervliet Arsenal (U.S. Army Materiel Command)

Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award, Battalion/Equivalent: 834th Aviation Support Battalion, Minnesota National Guard (National Guard Bureau)

The Army Safety Awards Program is designed to recognize, promote and motivate success in accident prevention through risk management by recognizing safety accomplishments of individuals and units in the field. It features positive measurements of current Army goals, improved plaques and certificates and streamlined submission processes. The program also allows organizations to develop additional awards tailored to their unique accident prevention and safety recognition goals.
