Pull out your piles of cardboard and tape, don your horned hat, and prepare to hoist anchor and set sail in Anderson Indoor Aquatics Center Feb. 27.
Officials at the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation are challenging the community to build a better boat at this year’s Viking Boat Regatta. The questions they plan to answer are: will it float; and, which design will be the most creative?
Check-in for this family and team-building event is 8 a.m., with a safety briefing at 8:30 a.m. Boat races begin at 9 a.m. Recommended materials include recyclable household items, cardboard, duct tape and packing tape.
Participants will compete for three awards: Captains Award, for the team that completes the course in the fastest amount of time; Titanic Award, for the most dramatic sinking and best effort to not sink; and, Team Spirit Award, for the best design and creativity, including the boat and crew.
Those who plan to participate must register in person at Anderson by Feb. 25. For more information and a complete list of official rules, go to the Fort Knox DFMWR website announcement HERE, or call 502-624-6217.
