ARLINGTON, Va. – Col. Charles “Rob” Parker was promoted to the rank of brigadier general during a ceremony in the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon on January 6, 2021.

Lt. Gen. John B. Morrison, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6, hosted the ceremony. In a room with socially-distanced family, friends and colleagues, Morrison highlighted Parker’s commitment to his family and the endearing qualities that led him to his promotion.

“The first thing that strikes you about Rob when you meet him is how deeply he feels about his family and how they influenced him to go into the Army. None of this would have been possible without family, Rob. You standing here is a result of your family and it’s a great day for the nation, the Army and the Parker family,” Morrison said. “In addition to this, you encompass three significant traits; your professionalism, candor and personality. Wrap this around strong leadership and that's why you're about to become a general officer now.”

During the ceremony, Parker’s wife and two children assisted in affixing the brigadier general rank insignia. Afterward, the newly promoted general offered special thanks to his colleagues, family, and friends, many of whom attended virtually.

“All of you have had a significant and positive influence on myself and my family and I’m truly grateful and thank you for attending today. I extend my heartfelt love and appreciation to my exceptional wife, Pam, and our children, Brandon and Ashley. Thank you for your enduring support and personal sacrifices,” Parker said.

“I’m grateful to those senior officers I’ve worked with along the way. You took an interest in furthering my developmental opportunities and you are in no doubt responsible for my selection as a general officer. I also understand it's now my responsibility to help develop and mentor the next generation. People first, winning matters, Army Strong,” he added.

Parker most recently served within the Headquarters Department of the Army, G-8 from 2018-2020 as the Director of Joint & Integration and earlier, as Chief of the Mission Command Division. He next will assume duties as the J-6 Deputy Director for Joint All-Domain Command and Control on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon. Parker is a 1993 graduate of North Georgia College where he was commissioned into the Signal Corps through the Army ROTC program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management from Webster University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
