Despite temperatures soaring near 100 degrees, Redstone Arsenal's Block Party drew hundreds of families, friends and exhibitors who were all in for a great afternoon of free entertainment, fun and food.

From the military hardware on display for kids to climb in and out of to the fun-busting inflatable moon bounces and slides, the Block Party held June 27 on Youth Center Road offered something for kids of all ages. There was also plenty of entertainment and free food provided by several sponsors. Youth Center volunteers painted faces, the Arsenal Fire Department handed out safety materials and fire hats, and the Marine Corps Detachment supervised the inflatable fun and simulated Sumo wrestling.

The Block Party was organized by Family and Morale Welfare and Recreation. Sponsors for the Block Party were Redstone-Huntsville Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army, Coca-Cola, Turner Beverage Company, Chick-Fil-A, Papa John's, Knology, Honeybaked Hams, Verizon Wireless, Officer and Civilian Women's Club, and Warrant Officers Association.
