An M249 with a suppressor is fired to assess the performance and repeatability of the suppressor, which was produced at Picatinny Arsenal by the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center. The suppressor was created with direct metal laser sintering using titanium, aluminum and steel. Other advanced manufacturing techniques, including computer-aided design and Intelligent Design, were employed to create the suppressor. The suppressor was a joint services effort between the DEVCOM Armaments Center and the Navy/USMC.
