FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Brig. Gen. James Bonner, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, talked with leaders here about his 90-day command assessment and priorities in Lincoln Hall Auditorium Friday.
Bonner took command Jun. 26 and began assessing the organization through mission analysis, in-briefs, battlefield circulation and meetings with stakeholders throughout the military, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command and the extended stakeholder team, including civic leaders and organizations. Bonner said multiple perspectives helped frame his priorities, which are nested in Army, TRADOC and Combined Arms Center priorities.
He also noted that the military and civilian workforce and leaders at Fort Leonard Wood are teeming with talent, and he intends to use that talent to make Fort Leonard Wood an assignment of choice and to accomplish the priorities, which are: inform and care for people; generate readiness; develop leaders, and drive change.
Bonner said his philosophy is and will remain grounded in the Army Profession of Arms, which is centered on trust; he continued by saying he is focused on character, and that engaged, caring leadership is a must to achieve mission success.
During the session, Bonner also introduced MSCoE Command Sgt. Maj. Randolph Delapena, who reviewed key points in a newly published Fort Leonard Wood standards book that will be distributed to military members across post in the coming weeks. The standards book is a pocket-sized summary of standards contained in existing Army and command All Army Activities, or ALARACTs, as well as regulations, policies and directives.
