The 2501st Digital Liaison Detachment bid farewell to Col. Brian Beiner and welcomed Col. Thomas Weikert during a change of command ceremony at Camp Yongin, South Korea, Oct. 14.

The ceremony was officiated by Brig. Gen. Trevor Bredenkamp, Eighth Army deputy commanding general, operations, with 2501st DLD and ROK Army Soldiers attending the ceremony. The change of command took place in the Camp Yongin gym with social distancing measures in place.

Weikert takes command after serving as Eighth Army’s executive officer to the commanding general.

The 2501st DLD deploys in support of First (Wonju) and Third (Yongin) Republic of Korea Armies and the ROK Ground Component Command to provide continuous liaison capability between Eighth Army and ROK Army headquarters. This function enables mission command and unity of effort through coordination, information exchanges, and the integration of war-fighting capabilities.
