FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz., -- Due to COVID-19 precautions, Mountain Vista Communities (MVC) had to cancel all in-person resident events, but that hasn’t stopped all resident activities.

Since March, MVC has hosted six “Grab and Go” activity bag events for all resident children to help keep them occupied during the days they were at home. Also, several Facebook contests were hosted.

To celebrate The Month of the Military Child, MVC gave more than 240 flower pot activity bags to resident children. A “Chalk your Walk” Facebook contest invited all residents to submit their sidewalk chalk mater pieces. Three families were chosen randomly to receive a Game Night basket with gift cards.

In appreciation of all military spouses, MVC residents were able to nominate a Military Spouse that they personally wanted to recognize. Five spouses were randomly selected to receive a $25 gift card and their nomination was shared in the resident newsletter. To recognize residents for maintaining their yard during monsoon, MVC hosted a Landscaping Contest. For every qualifying household a $25 rent credit was given and random winners received an additional $100 gift card.

With 2020 being a unique year for graduating high school seniors. MVC wanted to personally recognize graduating students with a goodie bag. Students received a set of MVC engraved pens, a custom water bottle, a personalized card from all MVC employees and other goodies.

Nine MVC resident scholars were awarded a scholarship and received a combined total amount of $42,500 from the Michaels Organization Educational Foundation. Recipients also received their certificate along with a gift bag that included Mountain Vista Communities swag, a $25 Amazon gift card, and school supplies to help start off their school year.

For September, MVC is hosting a Fall into Fun Grab and Go event for MVC residents only. It’s not too late to reserve your bag. MVC will be handing out these reserved craft bags 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 at the MVC Housing Office. Each bag will include a scarecrow clothespin craft, a foam fall wreath, and a sugar skull paper craft. Bags are limited, to reserve your bag email Heather at Hford@tmo.com. Be sure to include the number of children and address.

Check out MVC monthly newsletter and follow Mountain Vista Communities on Facebook and ACTIVEBUILDING for information on upcoming resident events.
