University of Guam (1988)
Brig. Gen. Leon Guerrero's military career began in 1985 as a Private First Class. After entering the Army ROTC program at the University of Guam, he commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1988.
His initial assignments included the S2 and Executive Officer position for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-294th Infantry Battalion. Subsequently he commanded the 731st Military Police Company.
Following command, Guerrero was selected for the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program, where he was assigned multiple positions from 1991-2007 including Director of Military personnel/G1; Recruiting and Retention Officer; Assistant Professor of Military Science at his alma matter, the University of Guam Army ROTC program; Commander, 94th Civil Support team; and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans, Guam National Guard.
From 2007-2008 he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After his deployment Guerrero returned to Guam where he served in various positions in the Guam National Guard. In March 2015, Brig. Gen. Guerrero was selected to serve as the Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard, serving until his retirement in 2019.
About the Army ROTC Hall of Fame
The ROTC Hall of Fame was established in 2016 as part of the ROTC Centennial celebration. The first class (2016) inducted 326 former ROTC Cadets who had distinguished themselves in their military or civilian career.
The Hall of Fame honors graduates of the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps who have distinguished themselves in military or civilian pursuits. It provides a prestigious and tangible means of recognizing and honoring Army ROTC Alumni who have made lasting, significant contributions to the Nation, the Army and the history and traditions of the Army ROTC Program.
