Command Sgt. Maj. Kelly M. Hart

Command Sgt. Maj. Kelly Hart hails from McConnelsville, Ohio, where he graduated in 1995. He enlisted into the Army in October 1996 as a Bradley Linebacker Crewmember and went to basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After Basic Training he attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he was awarded the MOS 14R. Command Sgt. Maj. Hart was then awarded the MOS of 14J after the deactivation of the 14R MOS in 2005, and 14H once the 14J MOS split in 2011.

Command Sgt. Maj. Hart’s assignments include: 4-3 ADA Kitzingen, Germany-1997/1999 (Bradley Crewmember); 1/3 ACR Fort Carson, Colo.-1999/2002 (Bradley Gunner); C 1-4 ADA Fort Riley, Kansas (Bradley Commander); 32d AAMDC Fort Bliss, Texas-2005 (Passive Defense Cell); Massillon and Canton Recruiting Stations in Ohio-2005/2009 (Detailed Recruiter); JTAGS Alpha Detachment Stuttgart, GE-2009/2012 (Detachment Sergeant); 31st ADA BDE Fort Sill, Okla.-2012/2014 (Brigade Equal Opportunity Advisor);1st Space Company Colorado Springs, Colo.-2014/2016 (First Sergeant); 1st Space Brigade Colorado Springs, Colo.-2016/2017 (HHC First Sergeant); United States Sergeants Major Academy- 2017/2018 (Student); 5-5 ADA BN Command Sgt. Maj. at Fort Sill, Okla.-2018/2020 and most recently, served as the 1st Space Brigade Command Sgt. Maj. 2020/2022.

Command Sgt. Maj. Hart's deployments include: Bosnia-2000 (Checkpoint NCOIC), Iraq-2003/2004 (Bradley Commander), Qatar-2010 (JTAGS Detachment Sergeant), Qatar-2014 (BDE EOA), Afghanistan-2018/2019 (BN Command Sgt. Maj.).

Command Sgt. Maj. Hart's awards and decorations include: Bronze Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (6OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6OLC), Valorous Unit Award (1 OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award (1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (silver, 1 loop), Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 Stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), NATO Medal (1 Star), German Armed Forces Badge (Gold), the Senior Space Badge, the Recruiter Ring, and is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. He has also been awarded the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, the Order of St. Dominic, and the Norwegian Foot March Badge.

Command Sgt. Maj. Hart's education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, the Advanced Leader Course, the Senior Leader Course, and the United States Army Sergeant Major's Course (Class 68). He’s also completed the Army Recruiting Course, JTAGS Course, SATCOM EMI Fundamentals Course, Unit Movement Officers Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Combatives Level 1, Equal Opportunity Advisors Course, SHARP Course, Army Space Cadre PH1, Space 200, BN Pre Command Course, BDE Pre Command Course, The Nominative Leader Course and the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course in 2002. Command Sgt. Maj. Hart has an Associate Degree in Applied Science – Admin/Management Studies, a Bachelor’s of Professional Studies in Business and Management, and a Master of Science-Management from Excelsior College.

He is married to the lovely Jennifer Hart from Colorado Springs and they have two children; Jordyn and Kaden.
