Fort Knox officials are planning to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 245th Birthday with a series of events that will be shown on social media sites June 14.

An Army Birthday cake cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. June 10 in the U.S. Army Cadet Command’s command conference room. During that event, Maj. Gen. John Evans Jr., commanding general of Cadet Command and Fort Knox, will be joined by the oldest Soldier on post, 61-year-old Col. Timothy Walls from 1st Theater Sustainment Command, and the youngest Soldier, 18-year-old Pfc. Timothy Carlton, from 541st Sapper Company, 19th Engineer Battalion.

On the Army’s birthday June 14, a three-part virtual celebration will take place throughout the day, all of which will be aired over social media outlets:

·        10 a.m. - Video compilation of Fort Knox units singing the Army song

·        2 p.m. - Video of Army birthday message from Maj. Gen. John Evans Jr.

·        5 p.m. – Video of cake cutting ceremony featuring the post’s youngest and oldest Soldiers
