FORT GREELY, Alaska -- U.S. Army Garrison Alaska, Fort Greely Family and MWR staff will begin transitioning the Recreational Lodging Office from the Aurora Community Activity Center, Bldg. 500 to the basement of Bldg. 801, and assume ownership and operation of the former Missile Defense Agency Lodging at Bldg. 801 during the week of May 11-15.

This comes after a directive passed down from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense stating that military departments would take immediate action to transition all TDY and PCS lodging operations and associated support functions to all-NAF operations, in order to free up funding for higher priority programs.

MWR has taken responsibility of accepting reservations for both lodging facilities as of May 8, and potential guests will now have the ability to request either facility on the new reservation request document. Room preference will be noted, but not guaranteed.

Jessica Smith, director of FMWR, is optimistic about the transition, “although the responsibility of operating two different lodging facilities has presented typical challenges, I am positive that my staff is more than capable and are prepared to serve our Soldiers, Families, Civilians and Soldiers for Life with outstanding customer service.”

To make a reservation at either Bldg. 702 or 801, please contact FMWR Lodging at (907)-873-4795.
