FORT BENNING, GA – The U. S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC), Commanding General, LTG James E. Rainey, visited the Western Hemisphere for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) on Tuesday, May 12th. The honor of Rainey's visit correlated, with the U.S. Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) announcement of WHINSEC, MAJ Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Adelton Ferreira Dias, selected as the TRADOC Instructor of the Year.

Rainey visited the Institute to observe how WHINSEC has adapted training to meet COVID19 precautionary guidance. Colonel John D. Suggs Jr., WHINSEC Commandant, briefed the adjustments made by the schools to achieve the Institute's mission – to train one ethical leader at a time. Rainey viewed how the majority of courses shifted to distance learning models by using video and content sharing applications. The remaining two courses requiring in-person instruction, secured social distancing, use of masks, and other recommended prevention protocols.

"You got to lead well, and you got to be able to develop other people, and you are absolutely doing both. You are educating them, but you are also teaching them about leadership and how to develop other leaders," said Rainey. He added, "Next time I come down here, I want to know what else you figured out to do and how to be great at it."
