Starting April 10, anyone visiting Fort Knox public areas and shopping facilities are required to wear a cloth face covering at all times.

Fort Knox officials announced the decision in response to an April 5 Department of Defense memorandum that states such a covering needs to be worn when keeping at least six feet of social distance cannot reasonably be assured or maintained.

The affected facilities include the Visitor Center, commissary, main Exchange to include the food court area, Mini Mall, Burger King, Chaffee Express, Wilson Express, Class Six, Lindsey Golf Course Pro Shop, Post Office and Binter Street Pharmacy.

Officials stated it is essential that patrons follow the guidance as entrance to these facilities will otherwise be denied. Free face masks or coverings will also likely not be available at these respective locations, so customers are advised to plan accordingly.

A doubled cloth face covering can be fashioned from household items or common materials, such as clean T-shirts or a clean cloth that can cover the nose and mouth area. For the latest updates on changes, visit the official Fort Knox website COVID-19 page here.
