Red River Army Depot, TEXAS - Maj. Gen. Daniel Mitchell, commanding general for the Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, toured Red River March 10 making it his third visit since stepping into the positon in July 2018. Mitchell was accompanied by Command Sgt. Maj. Jerry Charles.
"Of course I always feel like I'm back home here," Mitchell said. "It's always good to visit and see all the amazing things you're doing at Red River. From your outstanding safety program to the quality products you continue to produce, your team is staying ahead of the curve and helping us to maintain readiness."
Mitchell toured several depot facilities including the Fire Truck production area, the Heavy Tactical Division, the Rough Terrain Container Handler production area, Rubber Products and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle production area. He also talked with students who are currently enrolled in the Leadership Development Phase II course as well members of the depot's Voluntary Protection Program Star Team.
"Red River has one of the best safety programs in the Organic Industrial Base," he said. "You guys continue to lead the way in safety."
Mitchell served as the depot's 38th commander from July 2008 to June 2011.
