The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, also known as CCDC, discovers and develops cutting-edge technologies that empower and protect American Soldiers and ensure their safe return home. CCDC civilians are recognized internationally as experts in their field, which span the full spectrum of science and engineering disciplines.
CCDC is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Futures Command, which is modernizing the way the Army does business by creating a space of endless possibilities to explore, develop, and test new methods, organizations, and technologies. Above all else, Army Futures Command and CCDC want to make sure Soldiers have what they need, before they need it, to protect tomorrow… today.
At CCDC, we understand the importance of diversity in the workforce and that diversity and inclusion create advantages in performance as well as innovation through diversity of thought. CCDC participates in various affinity events each year, to conduct recruitment and outreach efforts, particularly critical outreach to the underrepresented populations in the workforce.
We also remains committed to the development and support of Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) capabilities in underserved and underrepresented educational institutions. These institutions provide a wealth of knowledge and diversity of thought and perspective which is critical to the success of addressing CCDC's mission and challenges. Below are some of the HBCU/MI programs CCDC participates in:
-- CCDC CBC's Minority Undergraduate Student Internship Program (MUSIP)
10-week summer internship program for undergraduate students and is designed to foster research, development, testing, and application of technologies at one of the nation's premier chemical and biological defense laboratories. -- DoD HBCU/MI Student Internship Program
Provides students with a unique developmental experience to broaden the students' perspectives and provide them with practical advanced education related to their academic fields. Students are afforded the opportunity to work side by side with Army scientists and engineers in state of-the-art research facilities while observing and implementing concepts from their course work to perform advanced research that contributes to the world around them. -- DoD HBCU/MI Faculty Fellowship Program
Provides summer placement opportunities to HBCU/MI faculty in one of the Army labs to conduct joint research projects with Army laboratory scientists. The primary goal is to help build in-house research capacity by exposing faculty to cutting-edge scientific work that they can take back to their campus to improve curriculum, research products, and student outcomes. -- OSD/DoD Faculty Fellow Research Team Program
Provides enrichment and development opportunities for faculty and students to pioneer discoveries together while employing and practicing skills obtained in their classrooms. The program strives to enhance HBCU/MI research programs through faculty development and student mentoring with the goal of building a more inclusive pool of scientist and engineers to meet the growing scientific needs of our nation.
