REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- In more than 50 countries around the world, about 114,000 professionals work around the clock to meet the Army readiness mission; engineers, scientist, welders, logisticians, mechanics and administrative professionals to name a few.
Only one Army command can boast that its diverse array of professionals work interdependently to "ensure globally dominant land force capabilities" -- that is the Army Materiel Command, primary provider of materiel for the Army.
The Army Materiel Command's Top Employee of the Quarter Program recognizes AMC employees worldwide who go above and beyond to make sacrifices, meet deadlines and exceed expectations. Moreover, they directly induce money-saving programs and perform lifesaving tasks for the Army, its Warfighters and their families. So, every quarter, all major subordinate commands within AMC are prompted to recognize their premier employees across the world.
The AMC Top Employee of the Quarter Board serves as the platform where supervisors within the command can acknowledge "the best of the best" in their employee line-up. The employees are recognized with their own parking space for the quarter, an honorary award signed by AMC Commander Gen. Gus Perna and a 4-Star note from Perna. They are also honored in a photo display at AMC headquarters that lists their achievements.
"Army Materiel Command's ready and resilient workforce is the core of the command's support to the warfighter," Perna said. "Their personal commitment to AMC's Soldiers and civilians, supported by our defense contractors, ensures our men and women in uniform receive the support they need and deserve."
The following employees are recognized as recipients of the Second Quarter, fiscal year 2019 AMC Top Employee of the Quarter award:
• Kathy Gardner, Executive Officer, Headquarters, AMC, for both her superior performance as Executive Officer and her execution as project manager for AMC's 2019 Continuing Legal Education Program. Her contributions guaranteed successful mission accomplishment.
• Shannon Zemke, Supervisory Contract Specialist, Army Contracting Command, for her performance executing and managing two Middle Tier Acquisition Section 804 contracts valued in excess of $300 million. Her strategic approach to overseeing the Mobile Protected Firepower Program enabled the ACC to avert delays in support provided to the Warfighter.
• Jennifer Wilborn, Logistics Management Specialist, Aviation and Missile Command, for developing a tool to capture unmatched goods receipts posted in Logistics Modernization Program, which identified system errors valued at $26 million. She led a team in critical design and development for the Total Asset Visibility Contractor to enhance Army supply systems and improve enterprise business processes across the Army.
• Kevin Babiak, Logistics Management Specialist, Army Sustainment Command, for identifying non-baseline sewing services, saving the Command over $85,000 in labor and material costs. He had a critical role in streamlining the EAGLE contract data requirement list structure, identifying de-scopes that created an estimated cost savings of $100,000.
• Sarah Ervin, Inventory Management Specialist, Communications-Electronics Command, for her leadership, dedication and work ethic in providing the best possible support to the warfighter. She led and coordinated the Supply Inventory Management and strategic Get Well Plans of the Night Vision Team in support of the AMC mission, customer requirements and CECOM goals for supply availability.
• Corey Hotle, Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist, Joint Munitions Command, for his performance in analyzing multiple enterprise wide data sets to develop metrics to improve JMC's industrial base, while supporting and tracking man-hour standard reductions that will result in $35 million in increased buying power for fiscal year 2020 and beyond.
• David Arange, Marine Cargo Specialist, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, for his performance in executing military cargo movements, serving as lead planner and being recognized as an Integrated Computerized Deployment System expert. His work ethic is second to none and his commitment to SDDC, its mission and the Global Distribution Enterprise is beyond reproach.
• Robert Rivard, Security Assistance Program Manager, Security Assistance Command, for leading efforts to develop three high-priority cases on behalf of the Government of Iraq to purchase and refurbish 120 Armored Security Vehicles. His leadership facilitated the Army Security Assistance Enterprises' ability to obligate 99.11% of expiring fiscal year 2018 Counter Train Equipment Fund-Iraq funds, representing an all-time best for the ASAE and Iraq Team.
