The Fort Knox annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled to take place Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Post Gazebo located across from Brooks Parade Field here. The event will feature holiday music, caroling, and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

About 350 free Christmas trees will be offered to all active service members and their families immediately following the ceremony, courtesy of the "Trees for Troops" program, sponsored by Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, FedEx and the National Christmas Tree Association. Tree distribution will be adjacent to the Post Gazebo at the Waybur Theater parking lot following the ceremony until 8 p.m.

Additionally, attendees can view the 4' x 8' holiday cards surrounding Brooks Parade Field here, courtesy of Fort Knox units, organizations and schools as well as area businesses and municipalities. The winners of the card contest will be announced during the event.

This event is free and open to the general public. Free hot chocolate, coffee, cider and cookies will be available.
