Maj. Mathew Golsteyn Trial Date Delayed Until February 19th

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The U.S. v. Golsteyn trial by Court Martial has been rescheduled from Mon., Dec. 2, to Wed., Feb. 19. The next motions hearing in the case is scheduled for Mon., Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. Both the trial and the motions hearing will take place at the Fort Bragg Courthouse.

The defense and prosecution teams for U.S. v. Golsteyn had planned to travel to Afghanistan in November to conduct witness depositions. Members of the defense team, to include Maj. Golsteyn, requested to attend and participate in those depositions. The prosecution team was set to accommodate defense travel and deposition participation. However, the decision was made to delay the depositions until the next motions hearing is complete.

Maj. Golsteyn continues to enjoy the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in court.

Members of the media wanting to make arrangements to attend the motions hearing or trial, or ask additional questions, please email the USASOC Public Affairs Office: pao-usasoc@socom.mil, or call 910.432.6005.
