WASHINGTON -- Matthew Miller, U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Washington Field Office Special Agent in Charge, laid a wreath with Maj. Gen. Omar J. Jones IV, commanding general, Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, during an Army Honors Wreath Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, Oct. 9, 2019.
"The Secret Service Washington Field Office is honored to participate in this solemn ceremony recognizing the service and sacrifice of our nation's heroes," Miller.
The wreath-laying was part of an ongoing engagement program of interagency partnership between JFHQ-NCR/MDW and the USSS, a relationship vital to mission success.
JFHQ-NCR/MDW's mission supports joint operations and National Special Security Events (NSSEs) like the State of the Union 2020, Inauguration 2021 and State Funerals by ensuring readiness across the command and with interagency partners.
The USSS has a distinct, dual mission, which includes safeguarding the nation's financial infrastructure and payment systems, and protecting national leaders, visiting heads of state and government, and NSSEs.
As vital interagency partner, the USSS is fundamental to JFHQNCR's emergency preparedness, Defense Support of Civil Authorities and maintaining readiness within the NCR.
