The German military contingent at Fort Sill celebrated the Day of German Unity Oct. 3, at the Air Force Detachment. Lt. Col. Andreas Klein and Lt. Col. Ingo Scharschmidt, German Army, and German Air Force liaison officers, respectively, at the Fires Center of Excellence, their families and all the German personnel at Fort Sill participated in the celebration. Guests included leaders from the Lawton-Fort Sill community, such as Lawton mayor Stan Booker. During the festivities, Klein underlined that "we are today celebrating something that, although it may appear ordinary, should by no means be taken for granted." The event featured traditional German food and beverage.
