GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- PCS season is over, school is in session and now is the opportunity to get inspired.
U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria's Army Community Service is hosting a two-part empowerment series to increase resiliency, improve communication, and prepare spouses to work and volunteer within the community.
Super Saturday is Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., focusing on tools to increase spouse readiness. Those tools are put to work at the Career and Volunteer Fair Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Both events are at the Tower View Conference Center.
"We hope to assist participants with navigating successfully through transitional periods in the military lifestyle," said Terri Kaupelis, an employee with the Family Advocacy Program at ACS. "This often includes learning how to adjust to various household changes such as unemployment, budget challenges, decreased communication and increased stress levels."
A total of six classes are available for Super Saturday sign-up, and sessions run at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Each workshop runs for 50 minutes.
Childcare is available for children age five and under who are registered with Child and Youth Services and are cleared for all special needs. To receive care, parents must be signed up for Super Saturday by Oct. 3 at acsbavaria.checkappointments.com.
"ACS is offering opportunities for families to engage in workshops that will assist in learning skills, such as effective communication and employment tips that they will be able to utilize in the second part of the resiliency and empowerment series," said Kaupelis. "We want families to feel empowered and supported while they develop skills that they can take with them in all their future endeavors."
The Career and Volunteer Fair features over 40 booths of local organizations that are hiring, offering volunteer opportunities that enhance job skills, providing training and education opportunities, or offering support services to spouses looking for jobs.
"Finding a job that motivates and inspires you means you have to know yourself in order to provide services confidently," said Christine Agee, a relocation readiness specialist at ACS. "This empowerment series truly focuses the mind during Super Saturday, allowing spouses to show their best selves during the Career and Volunteer Fair."
Participants are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes to the Career and Volunteer Fair to enhance prospects.
