Barr Memorial Library is hosting Fantober Fort Knox throughout the month of October.

The event is a 30-day celebration of the many fandoms to which many people flock each year. Library staff are preparing to offer something for everyone, whether they are aficionados of anime, Doctor Who devotees, lovers of Lord of the Rings, or watchers of the dueling Star adventure genre -- Trek and Wars.

What is Fantober?

Essentially it is a miniComic-Con type of event spread over a month, and 26 libraries at 20 installations worldwide are participating this year. They are developing and offering programming and events that each thinks best fits the community's interests. Barr is no exception.

Whether visitors are library users or not, Fantober is designed to appeal to a broad range of community members' interests all the while exposing them to the excellence and opportunities that Army MWR libraries afford them. Participants may receive a collectible Fantober lanyard and enamel pin that can be decorated, with pins added during future Fantober events.
