GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- American retirees in the area will have a chance to get help with pay issues, health care and other retiree services this October.

U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria hosts its annual Retiree Appreciation Day Oct. 15 at the Tower View Conference Center, Bldg 209, at Tower Barracks in Grafenwoehr. USAG Ansbach hosts its RAD Oct. 16 at Von Steuben Bismarck Kaserne.

The garrisons hold this annual event to honor retirees for the service that they have provided to our country and to offer an opportunity for retirees to access many of the community services at one location.

WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT TO BRING

Attendees can meet one-on-one with a representative from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service to address any questions with retirement and annuity payments. Retirees will be able to modify contact information, banking and payment details, allotments and beneficiary information. Nearly all requests and changes will be enacted immediately and on-site through the DFAS representative.

Also in attendance will be representatives from the Federal Benefits Unit and Veterans Affairs.

Retirees should show up with all information and paperwork necessary to make changes, such as bank account and routing numbers, social security numbers and mailing addresses with postal codes.

Those wishing to suspend Survivor Benefit Plan payments due to divorce or death of a spouse will need to provide either a certified English translation of the divorce decree or a copy of death certificate.
