BRUSSELS -- Army 1st Sgt. Jaime E. Negrón took responsibility as the first sergeant of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison Benelux, Aug. 7 during a ceremony in Brussels.

Army 1st Sgt. Natalee C. Simms, who assumed responsibility of HHC on Feb. 5, 2018, reminisced about her time in HHC and thanked Soldiers from the company as well as mission partners for their support.

Negrón, a native of Santurce, Puerto Rico, enlisted into the U.S. Army in July 25, 2000, as a human resources specialist and attended Basic Training/AIT at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He then attended military police reclassification AIT in July 2005.

Before assuming responsibility as the first sergeant, Negrón was the provost sergeant for U.S. Army Garrison Benelux in Brussels.

As he highlighted the importance of continuity, he also mentioned that it is equally important to welcome change.

"HHC has a history of great leadership. I will continue that history as the first sergeant. I will be a 360 degree leader," he said.

"I will lead south to the Soldiers under my care, providing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I will lead north by influencing those with authority over me. I will lead east and west impacting my peers but, most importantly, I will stay humble yet vigilant in maintaining my own compass needle centered."
