In August 2019, Mr. Vance F. Stewart, III was selected as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Management and Budget) (DASA (M&B)) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works (ASA (CW)). As the DASA (M&B), he serves as the principal advisor on management and budget issues to the ASA (CW), and is responsible for all matters related to the development and implementation of the Civil Works budget and the reimbursable international and inter-agency support activities of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Mr. Stewart previously served as an appropriations director in the Army Budget Office within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management & Comptroller). In his first civilian assignment, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8 for the U. S. Army Military District of Washington. Mr. Stewart served for more than 27 years as an active duty officer in the Corps of Engineers and as a Comptroller, retiring as an Army Colonel.

Mr. Stewart received his Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.

Mr. Stewart has received individual and unit awards throughout his military and civilian career. He has been awarded the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal and is a Distinguished Member of the Finance Regiment.
