MG Peter B. Andrysiak

Major General Peter B. Andrysiak assumed command of United States Army Alaska on 16 July 2019. Major General Andrysiak holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland.

Prior to his present position as Commanding General, Major General Andrysiak served as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. As the Chief of Staff, he supervised, provided guidance for, and established priorities for the USARPAC staff. On behalf of the CG, he targeted and oversaw the daily operations, processes, policies, and procedures of the USARPAC Headquarters and staff.

Major General Andrysiak was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers upon graduation from the United States Military Academy and has led a career spanning over 29 years. Throughout his career, Major General Andrysiak has held several leadership positions, including Deputy Commanding General -- Operations, 25tht Infantry Division; Commanding General, Pacific Ocean Division, USACE; Chief of Staff, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; USFOR-A JTF-3; Commander, 2nd Engineer Brigade, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; Executive Officer to the Chief of Engineers/Commanding General, Washington D.C.; Commander, 20th Engineer Battalion (Combat Effects), Fort Hood, Texas; Deputy Commanding Officer, 1st Brigade Combat Team, previously Executive Officer, 1st Special Troops Battalion, and Operations Officer, 20th Engineer Battalion, all at 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Deputy District Engineer/Program Manager, Baltimore District, North Atlantic Division; Commander, A Company, 11th Engineer Battalion (MECH), Fort Stewart, Georgia; Brigade Engineer, Headquarters, United States Army Southern European Task Force Infantry Brigade, Vicenza, Italy; and Platoon Leader, Combat Support Company, 3rd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment (Airborne Battalion Combat Team), Vicenza, Italy.

His previous operational assignments include Operation Support Hope, Rwanda '94; Operation Desert Thunder, Kuwait '98; two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq '04 to '05 and '06 to '07; two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan '10 to '11 and '14; and Operation Freedom's Sentinel, Afghanistan '15.

His decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), Bronze Star Medal (two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one Gold Star), and the Army Achievement Medal (two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters). He has earned the Combat Action Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.
