ZAGAN, Poland -- The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, holds a change of command ceremony at the Ducal Palace in Zagan, Poland, July 7, 2019. Service members from the Polish 11th Armored Cavalry Division were also in attendance at the ceremony.
The outgoing Brigade Commander Col. Charles S. Armstrong, transferred authority and responsibility for the Soldiers, equipment, and mission of 1ABCT, 1ID to the incoming Brigade Commander Col. Paul T. Krattiger.
"Paul, you, Allison, and your daughters Ellery and Harper are joining a great team," said Armstrong. "They are ready to follow your direction, overcome any obstacle, and achieve Success."
1ABCT is from Ft. Riley, Kansas. In January 2019, 1ABCT deployed to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve.
"To the Soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officers of 'Devil Brigade,'" said Krattiger, "I look forward to joining your team and help writing the next chapter in our history."
The senior reviewing officer for the ceremony was the Commander of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, Maj. Gen. John S. Kolasheski.
"I am honored to serve with the 'Devil' Soldiers and be part of this storied Division again," said Krattiger.
