CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea -- U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the three newest Family Housing Towers, here, June 26.

Each of the towers provide 72 units, totaling 216 new homes for Soldiers and their Families. Another three towers are expected to open April 2020, totaling nine towers on post.

After the completion date, the nine towers will provide housing for approximately 40 percent of the command-sponsored families to reside on Humphreys.

"It's a great day here on Humphreys, because it takes a lot of effort to get something like this complete and this project gets us one step closer," said Col. Scott Mueller, the former USAG Humphreys commander. "To the future residents of these housing towers, I hope you have a great time living here. I hope you make many memories and have wonderful experiences."

Each tower has 3, 4 and 5-bedroom units, with 110-volt and 220-volt power outlets, cable TV/internet connections, doorbell monitor, a laundry room with a sink, a full-sized washer and dryer, pantry/storage, American-sized gas stove, and timed lights for energy conservation. All rooms are also fully furnished; additional amenities include underground parking and storage.

Sgt. Jacob Pierre, assigned to Echo Company, 4th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, and his wife, Malia, moved into the new tower in May, and are happy with their new place.

"It is so beneficial to live on post," he said. "I can come home after physical training, during lunch or if I am needed at home. I am only five minutes away, so I can come home quickly."

"It's really nice having a community here," Malia added.

The housing towers are designated for enlisted service members, staff sergeant (E6) and below. Incoming Soldiers, and those already here with their Families currently living off-post, can apply for the new housing.

"Being able to offer these brand new homes is a housing manager's dream," said Marcia Flowers, the USAG Humphreys Housing chief. "My job can't get any better than this. These apartments are awesome and I would love to live here. I am very impressed."

To receive housing availability, incoming accompanied service members (E6 and below) and unaccompanied (E7 and above), will need to attend the in-processing brief at the Housing Office, located on the third floor of the One Stop (Bldg. 6400). The brief is offered every day, at 11 a.m., except for the second Thursday of each month, when Housing is closed for training. Service members will need to bring their Humphreys PCS orders to the brief.

Housing's normal open hours are Monday -- Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and closed for lunch from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. They are also closed on the weekends, Federal holidays, and until 1:30 p.m., the second Thursday of each month.
