JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (June 18, 2019) -- The Mission and Installation Contracting Command Advanced Acquisition Plan update is now available online offering both industry and government a forecasting tool for the Army contracting needs.
Officials from the MICC Office of Small Business Programs published the May 31, 2019, update as part of its ongoing outreach efforts to reach small and large business representatives eligible to compete for Army contracts.
"The plan allows us to share and be transparent with industry to allow them to advance plan and be prepared to compete on future requirements," said Mark Massie, the director of MICC Office of Small Business Programs. "This allows the government to continue to grow our small business industrial base."
Massie added that the plan allows industry to pinpoint the government's requirements within their primary North American Industry Classification System, or NAICS, to help start the planning process. NAICS codes are used by the government to classify business establishments by sector, subsector and industry groups.
"Industry can then start the dialog with MICC small business professionals throughout the nation and Puerto Rico to express interest, provide capabilities and be prepared to respond to announcements when advertised."
To ensure open transparency with competition, Army contract requirements are advertised on Federal Business Opportunities website located at www.fbo.gov.
The MICC Advanced Acquisition Plan, updated biannually, provides a snapshot of existing and planned contracting actions for numerous installations and Army commands for next fiscal year and beyond. The small business director said the listing may be especially helpful to small businesses seeking prime and subcontracting contracting opportunities with the Army.
