JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- Celebrate Independence Day July 4 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord's Freedom Fest. The festivities are at Cowan and Memorial stadiums from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Freedom Fest offers fair food, the annual Classy Chassis Car Show, carnival rides, games, stage entertainment, Kids' World magic, kids' stage acts, sponsor booth giveaways, roving entertainers and more. The fireworks display will start at 10 p.m.
Eddie Montgomery, of the award-winning Montgomery Gentry band, is the headliner on stage at Freedom Fest with a triumphant start to a new legacy. He's been touring this year in honor of his late duo partner, Troy Gentry, and released "Here's to You," in February -- the album recorded just before Troy's death last September. Come hear him and his band while you're at Freedom Fest.
Performing on the main stage at 11 a.m. is a Beach Boys tribute band, the Beach Balls. The Blues Power Revue follows at 1 p.m. with '50s, '60s and Blues Brothers rockin' blues. At 3 p.m., Infinity Project grooves with all Journey songs.
For young country music fans, Megs McLean opens at 5 p.m. for an American country evening with superstar Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry, who takes the stage from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets to spread out on the spacious lawn while you take in the music, or sit in the bleachers overlooking the stadium stage.
