Members of the Fort Knox Garrison command team, Religious Support Office and congregants of the Main Post Chapel attended a ceremony June 11 to celebrate the opening of the chapel's newly-renovated annex.

The upgrade doubled the activity space of the existing annex, adding 1,150 square feet to the original building, which was built in 1977.

The renovations took almost one year to complete and include a new roof, ADA-compliant restrooms, ceiling improvements, LED light fixtures, flooring and heating and cooling system. The facility also features a new large outdoor patio space and an additional kitchen specially designed for the Jewish faith and kosher cooking.

The total project cost was almost $500,000 and puts the annex in line with modern building codes to better serve chapel events, Family Readiness Group meetings and unit activities.
