CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea--Soldiers, Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army (KATUSA), civilians, contractors, along with their Families and furry friends, gathered to celebrate the USAG Humphreys Organization Day, May 23, to strengthen the garrison team.
The event began with a Fun Run, starting near the One Stop (Bldg. 6400) and concluded with festivities at Freedom Field.
"It's nice to get away from my normal duties, hang out with everyone and have a good time," said Sgt. Charles Ream, the Consolidated Mailroom NCOIC for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, USAG Humphreys. "I think we should have an Organization Day every quarter."
A few activities during the event included badminton, ultimate Frisbee and a bounce house for youth.
"Events like this are essential to keeping any organization as cohesive as possible," said Pfc. Seth Watson, an air traffic controller also assigned to HHC. "Knowing who you are working with when performing your job is very important."
The USAG-Humphreys Religious Support Office supported the event by bringing music and give-a-ways for participants of the various challenges, like the hula-hooping contest and ring toss.
USAG Humphreys provides Camp Humphreys essential community services, facilities, and infrastructure for service members, Families, civilians, and contractors while enabling the "Fight Tonight" capability.
Being a customer service driven organization, the garrison did the event in shifts, to ensure participation in the event, while still taking care of the Humphreys community.
Capt. Akhtar Barcliff, the HHC commander and coordinator of the event, felt that it was necessary to build esprit de corps among service members and Civilians.
"I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with members from different directorates in a relaxed setting, as well as meet their families," she said. "Service members and civilians work very hard to support the tenant units on a daily bases. The feedback I received from the soldiers and civilians were all positive and everyone enjoyed themselves."
Barcliff plans to make sure that next year's Organization Day is just as successful.
