Functional fitness athletes from Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield gathered at Caro Fitness Center May 11 to compete against one another, but most importantly against their own best personal times.
The contest was comprised of four rigorous workouts consisting of intense, varied functional movements.
"We're doing the Community Functional Fitness Challenge to promote fitness and wellness to the Fort Stewart community," said Randy Ray, fitness facility program manager. "The month of May is a great time to do that because of the emphasis on the Army's Strong B.A.N.D.S. Program. I would encourage the community to get after it and work out."
Strong B.A.N.D.S. is an Installation Management Command-based initiative that stands for Strong Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for Army communities.
