USO volunteer meeting on tap

Fort Riley USO staff have started hosting monthly volunteer orientations in the hopes of building their list of volunteers.

"I loved the last interview orientation that we had because the group got to get together and have a good time," said Theresa Guadagno, USO Fort Riley, center operations supervisor. "And that's what brings you in. That's what makes you want to volunteer, if you have a good time with your fellow volunteers."

When attending an orientation, people will receive a folder filled with information on the events the center holds and other information they might need. After a group discussion, she said she will take them to the computers so they can sign up and watch the videos for training. Guadagno said she also helps them get their food handlers card.

Guadagno said she plans to announce each orientation on Facebook, so people need only follow the USO Fort Riley page.

The next volunteer orientation is April 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the USO Fort Riley, 6918 Trooper Drive. To register, call Theresa Guadagno at 785-473-3133 or email usofortriley@uso.org.
