ENTERTAINMENT & TRIPS

Music Café

Feb. 15: 7:30-11 p.m.

Soldiers' Theatre, Caserma Ederle

Celebrating nine years of Music Cafe at Soldiers' Theatre, Music Cafe nights are casual improv jam sessions for music lovers by music lovers. Great music and amazing community talent await at the next Music Cafe. Free entrance with refreshments available for purchase. Performers may sign up at Soldiers' Theatre. Ski/Snowboard Trip: Castelrotto

Feb. 17, 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m., $50

ODR, Caserma Ederle

Surrounded by the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Dolomite mountains, you can enjoy the beautiful slopes of Castelrotto. 60 kilometers of well-prepared pistes invite you to ski and snowboard at the largest high alpine meadow in Europe! Beginners, families and even the most advanced can enjoy themselves. If skiing/snowboarding isn't your thing, this is also a very popular destination for sledding.

Weekly Disc Golf Putting Tournament

Feb. 21 & 28 and March 7, 14, 21 & 29, 6 p.m., $10 (determined by number of participants)

Warrior Zone, Caserma Del Din

Head to the Warrior Zone for the weekly putting tournament. You'll have four baskets, five discs, and three rounds to try for a perfect score of 225. Takes place every Thursday at 6 p.m. No need to bring your own discs. Win prizes!

Darby Laser Kick Back Night

Feb. 22, 6-10 p.m, $5 registration fee & €25 for laser tag

Youth Center, Camp Darby

Head into the Youth Center immediately after school to enjoy some delicious pizza followed by two hours of laser tag. Sign up and pay your $5.00 laser tag fee by Feb. 20. Make sure to fill out a permission slip and sign up at the Youth Center.

Darby Trip: Venice Carnival

Feb. 23, 5 a.m.-11 p.m., $55/$25/$15

Pay at Bldg. 305, Camp Darby

Take off with us to the timeless beauty of Venice! Walk narrow alleys and canals in this beautiful city while taking in the fun and wonder of Carnival. Minimum participant required: 25. For more information, call DSN 633-8220, comm. 050-54-7589.

Venice Carnevale at Night

Feb. 23, 3 p.m.-Feb. 24, 1 a.m., $85

Celebrate this centuries-old festival with Outdoor Recreation. Carnevale dates back to 1094 and is celebrated all over Italy, the most spectacular display being in Venice. It is a celebration of the passage from winter into spring, a time when seemingly anything is possible. Including the illusion where the most humble of classes become the most powerful. Participants will be visiting the Venice at night. If you have never been to Venice at night, this trip is a must-do. Cost includes transportation to Venice and private taxi to and from St. Mark's Square. Bring euros for shopping and meals.

Bianchi Bike Tour

Feb. 25, 8 a.m.-4 p.m./$30

Huddled beneath the soaring bell town of a solitary red brick church near the northern Italian town of Treviglio there lies a secluded labyrinth of buildings. The gates and fences are painted in the iconic mint-green 'celeste' of the venerable Italian bike marque, "Bianchi." This secretive complex in Lombardy is the modern headquarters of one of the world's most stylish and respected bike manufacturers which was founded 130 years ago by the Italian engineer and inventor Edoardo Bianchi. Enjoy a tour of the museum, view production and assembly, and visit the design/testing departments.

Disaster! - The 70's Disaster Movie Musical

Bernina Express (Switzerland)

The Bernina Express is an impressive train that links northern and southern Europe in a beautiful way. This exceptional ride travels past glaciers and blends southern joie de vivre (joy of living) with Alpine nature. Board the Bernina Express in Tirano and enjoy a spectacular two-hour train ride through the Alps. Afterward, enjoy free time in St. Moritz. Don't forget your passport and comfortable walking shoes.

Florence: A Guided Tour

March 9, 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; $85/$55/$15

Join Outdoor Recreation as we tour the capital of the Tuscany region and the province of Florence. This city has a rich history as a center of trade and finance in medieval Europe and is home to numerous religious and republic revolutions. Florence is considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and attracts millions of tourists every year -- you could be one of them! Once we arrive in Florence we will link up with our local tour guide for our guided tour. Afterward, you are free to explore this historic, iconic city. We will also be facilitating public transportation for the 8 km ride to the medieval city of Fiesole to look down and see Florence as you have never before.

Genova and the Aquarium

March 16, 6 a.m.-9 p.m., $90/$49/$15

Discover the beautiful city of Genova, one of the most important seaport cities in northern Italy. This beautiful city is filled with various museums, historical palaces, breathtaking cathedrals and many other amazing attractions. Located in the city is the Aquarium of Genova, the second largest aquarium in Europe. Containing 71 tanks, 800 species, and over 10,000 specimens, you will be amazed by the biodiversity as well as the spectacular environments of the aquarium.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Let's Move!

Feb. 26 and March 12 & 26, 10-11 a.m.

SKIES Unlimited, Bldg. 308, Caserma Ederle

Families with children ages 2-4 years old are invited to attend this fun and energetic gross motor skills class. Classes will take place every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Classes include songs, structured schedule of events, physical activities and fun. Registration not required.

Doc Talk with Dr. Mieke VanderBorght

Feb. 19 & 26 and March 5, 12, 19 & 26, 1-2 p.m.

ACS, Bldg. 108, Caserma Ederle

Join child development and parenting expert Dr. Mieke for a drop-in parenting clinic. Sessions will include rotating parental topics, followed by open-ended discussions and Q&A. Attendance is free, and no RSVP is required. Have small ones in tow? Bring them along. This is a recurring clinic and is free to participants.

Pre-school Story Time

Feb. 21 & 28 and March 7 & 21, 10:30-11:15 a.m.

Library, Caserma Ederle

Join the library for weekly story time, with a different theme each week. Activities include making a craft, listening to stories and meeting new friends. Open to children ages 3 to 5 years old.

English as a Second Language

Feb. 20, 22 & 27

Wednesdays, 2-4 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m.-noon

ACS, Bldg. 108, Caserma Ederle

English as a Second Language introduces clients to the fundamentals of the English language. Participants can enjoy learning and speaking basic English together. Participants should expect: language fundamentals. Grammar, a friendly learning atmosphere, culture and classroom setting.

Children's Clothing Swap

Feb. 20, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Library Conference Room, Caserma Ederle

Bring in the items your child has outgrown and swap it for something new. Drop off items at the library front desk beginning Feb. 13; drop-off deadline is Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m. Sizes 0-5 years only. Clean, gently used clothing and shoes only. Any items left in the conference room after 1 p.m. will be donated to the Thrift Shop.

Family Advocacy Program Annual Troop Training

Feb. 21, 9-10 a.m.

Sigholtz Center, Caserma Del Din

Annual Troop Training familiarizes Soldiers with identification and reporting of domestic violence, prevention of family violence, identification and reporting of child abuse, FAP education and prevention services. This training can assist commanders by increasing awareness of prevention and education resources for family violence. Commanders are asked to sign up units by the 10th of the month of the training you wish to attend. Register by calling DSN 634-8526/7500, comm. 0444-71-8526/7500.

Family Advocacy Program Annual Command Team Training

Feb. 21, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Sigholtz Center, Caserma Del Din

Command teams are required by Army Regulation 608-18 to receive FAP training within 45 days of taking command/responsibility and to ensure they renew that training annually. Register by calling DSN 634-8526/7500, comm. 0444-71-8526/7500.

Adult Clothing Swap

Feb. 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Library Conference Room, Caserma Ederle

Join the Ederle Library for an adult clothing swap and refresh your wardrobe. Bring in items you no longer use and exchange them for something new. Things to remember for item drop-off: Drop off items at the Ederle Library front desk. The library will accept items beginning Feb. 14.; and deadline for drop-off is Feb. 21, 10:30 a.m. Please bring clean, gently used adult clothing and shoes only. Any items left in the conference room after 2 p.m. will be donated to the Thrift Shop.

SPORTS & FITNESS

Group Fitness Classes

Fitness Centers, Caserma Ederle and Caserma Del Din

The fitness centers have plenty of great classes to help you get in shape, open to all skill levels. Classes include Zumba, cycling, Taekwondo, yoga, power pump and many more. Cost is $5 per class or $35 for 10.

Youth Running Club

March 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 & 28, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Vicenza CYS Sports & Fitness, Bldg. 702, Villaggio

Ready... set ... run! This program is designed to teach correct running techniques in a team environment. Participants will need running shoes and athletic gear appropriate for outdoor and year-round running. The club is open to youth ages 6 to 18 years old who are registered with CYS. The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays through June.
