VICENZA, Italy (February 4, 2019) -- As part of a U.S. Army Garrison Italy recycling initiative, staff members from the Environmental Division, Directorate of Public Works, delivered recycle bins Jan. 31 to Vicenza High School at Caserma Ederle and Vicenza Middle School at Villaggio.

This initiative began with the signing of the Vicenza Military Community Recycling Policy by Garrison Commander Col. Erik M. Berdy in August 2018 and DPW ordering recycle bins for distribution here.

In an effort to increase VMC recycling rates, DPW is now distributing these color-coded recycling containers to all VMC activities.

The 50-liter containers are for common areas such as break rooms, hallways, copy rooms and more. These are available for glass, plastic and cans, and paper. Smaller 21-liter containers are available for plastic and cans, and paper; and are for office use.

Housekeeping staff have been instructed to empty these bins into the proper recycle containers outside of office buildings.

For more information, or to request bins for your building, please contact the USAG Italy solid waste/recycling compliance manager, Kurt Brownell, at DSN 637-8266, COMM 0444-61-8266; or email Kurt.A.Brownell.civ@mail.mil.
