RED RIVER ARMY DEPOT, Texas -- Red River Army Depot recently welcomed new leadership with the arrival of a Sergeant Major.

Sgt. Maj. Keith E. Green joined the Red River team in the latter part of 2018 bringing over 30 years of service to the U.S. Army. In the capacity of Sergeant Major, Green serves as chief enlisted assistant and advisor to the depot's Commander.

"I'm re-establishing the sergeant major position with the organization due to the depot operating for three years without one," said Green. "During my tenure at the depot, I will make myself available to all members of the organization. My goal is to be the sounding voice of the depot by presenting any problems, situations and recommendations directly to the command team. As a noncommissioned officer, my responsibility lies with the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of our team members."

Green's previous assignments include several deployments in support of Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operations Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn. Before joining the Red River team, his last assignment was Poznan, Poland with the 1ST ID Mission Command Element (MCE) in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve as the G4 forward Sergeant Major.

"Since arriving at Red River I've had the opportunity to meet with several team members," said Sergeant Major. "The impression I continue to receive is that of pride, commitment and dedication for what they are doing for the Army and the warfighter."

Born in Panama City, Panama, Green began his Army career as a generator repair mechanic. He holds an Associate's degree from Central Texas College and is now pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Excelsior College.

Green's wide range of expertise and experience in several maintenance positions will be a great asset to Red River as the team continues their over 77-year mission to rebuild a large variety of the Army's vehicle platforms and assets.

"My message to our team members is the depot cannot function without you," he said. "We are the Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence in many areas and we must continually work to project that image. Take pride in your surroundings and let's remain the best at what we do. Let's give our best and nothing less."
