VICENZA, Italy (January 29, 2019) -- The Vicenza Mako Sharks Swim Team played host to their final home swim meet of the season Jan. 19 at the pool on Caserma Ederle.

The meet saw more than 200 swimmers from 10 teams across the European Forces Swim League (EFSL) competing in a pentathlon format to challenge the swimmers and crown the most well rounded among them.

The pentathlon is a unique and particularly challenging meet format, as the swimmers participate in five events which include Freestyle, Butterfly, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Individual Medley. Their times from all five are then combined for an individual's event scores.

Vicenza swimmers Easton Timme (8), Carly Timme (9), Olivia Allen (11), Mikey Koczerga (11), and Austin Reeder (13) found themselves atop the podiums after the final races, receiving 1st-place honors for their age groups. In total, 19 Mako Shark swimmers placed in the top six of their respective age groups.

The Mako Sharks head to Rota, Spain, in early February for Southern Divisionals. From there, in March, they will wrap up the season with European Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
