CAMP HUMPREYS, Korea -- Maj. Hee Kim, entomologist and chief of Operations, Public Health Command-Pacific leads a Pest Management Re-certification Course held by the Department of Defense on Dec. 14, 2018.

Sixty-three pest-control applicants were re-certified, representing U.S. Army Garrison Korea, USAG Korea Contracting, U.S. Naval Forces Korea, and the U.S. Department of State.

This five-day event supported the U.S. Forces Korea readiness mission by controlling disease vectors that have the potential to increase exponentially without adequate pest control. Pest controllers are also taught how to comply with host nation laws and DOD regulations. Proper operations are essential to prevent harmful exposures and contamination of the food and water supply.
