Recently a small project, as it was called by one of the program managers from the USACE district, was turned over to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) Police Town.

The Afghan Police Women's Participation Program was recently fitted with a water tank replacement as the contractor, MoI representative, the Police Town commander and the USACE Local National Quality Assurance team were present for the ribbon cutting ceremony, where they not only received the project keys, the as-built drawings and gate valve keys. They were also given the Operational and Maintenance Manual, along with the O & M training video to assist our Afghan partners with maintaining the facilities far into the future.

USACE Contracting Officer Representative from the Kabul Project Delivery Platform team said it was a successful walk thru and turnover.

Other key participants of this project and present for the ceremony were the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, and the Site Safety and Health Officer for the contractor.

New wells were constructed for the water storage tanks and evaluated to ensure safe, potable water providing 800KL a day. The project also included a new elevated water storage tank to accommodate 4,000 residents.

The existing site houses 450 families, with an additional 300 families to be phased in and more apartments to be added on budget in the future.

With the new elevated water tank in place the existing tank will now get demolished and USACE Afghanistan district, with the support and cooperation from our host country, delivers the program.
