Task Force Commander, Col. Daniel Benick, promotes and renders the Oath of Commissioned Officers to newly-promoted Lt. Col. Maas. Maas serves as the Task Force's Deputy Commander and arrived to the Brigade only weeks before the deployment from 1st Special Forces Command.

With 17 years in the Army, Maas has a diverse and accomplished career. He began his career as a Tank Platoon Leader at Camp Casey, South Korea after earning his commission from Central Missouri State University. Since then, Maas has served as an Aide-de-Camp, Company Commander in the 308th MI Battalion at Fort Leavenworth, to the Course Manager, Operations Officer (S3) and Executive Officer at the 304th MI BN. Most recently, Maas worked as the Deputy G2 for 1st Special Forces Command at Fort Bragg. Maas has deployed three separate deployments to U.S. Central Command's area of operation
