WIESBADEN, Germany -- Wiesbaden youths enjoyed a fun-filled and educational afternoon of special events during the Hainerberg School Age Center's National Lights On After-School Day Oct. 25, 2018.
The nationwide observance puts a spotlight on the after-school programs available to young people nationwide.
Wiesbaden School Age Center staff members decided to join the observance with a superhero-themed event -- encouraging the staff and students to dress in their favorite superhero costumes while participating in a range of activities.
Children took part in face painting, functional fitness events, science projects, homework study and more.
Events were intended to be both fun and educational, according to center director, Katherine Vahrenkamp.
The nationwide effort is promoted by the Afterschool Alliance and aims to draw attention to the many ways after-school programs support students with learning and skills-building opportunities.
