The No. 1 priority of the secretary of the Army and the Army chief of staff is readiness, and being medically ready is critical toward ensuring the Total Force deployability.

This is a strategic part of the globally integrated operations.

In support of Army Medicine's effort in meeting the medical readiness requirement at Fort Meade, the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center -- Force Health Protection Clinic provides full scope of medical readiness screening requirements for active-duty service members.

During the Fort Meade Garrison Soldier Readiness Processing week at McGill Training Center from Oct. 16-24, the FHP clinic will set up a medical readiness lane for ADSM.

This will include vision, a periodic health assessment station, flu vaccines and immunizations.

This is a great opportunity for ADSM to take part in Soldier Readiness Processing to ensure their medical readiness is up to date and receive flu vaccines all in one stop.

Flu vaccine schedule:

Monday to Nov. 2: Flu vaccinations for the ADSM, DoD civilian employees and Tricare beneficiaries (ages 3 and older) enrolled in military treatment facility (not John Hopkins U.S. Family Health Plan) from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at McGill Training Center

Nov. 5-9: Flu vaccinations for the ADSM, DoD civilian employees and Tricare beneficiaries (ages 3 and older) enrolled in military treatment facility (not John Hopkins U.S. Family Health Plan) from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Exchange Pharmacy

Tricare beneficiaries may also choose off-post pharmacies for flu vaccinations. Be sure to save your proof of vaccination to have military treatment facility staff transcribe the information into your military medical record.

A full list of pharmacies can be found at: http://www.express-scripts.com/TRICARE/pharmacy.

Improving and sustaining readiness is the benchmark for everything we do. The Medical Readiness Transformation will continue to support the Army's No. 1 mission -- readiness.
