Columbus Day commemorates the spirit of exploration and the discovery of this great nation of ours. Five hundred, twenty-six years ago, against incredible odds, Christopher Columbus brought the New World to those in Europe and led to the birth of our country.
Through his daring actions, he did not allow seeming insurmountable odds to limit his goals. Amidst considerable self-doubt, mechanical failures and potential mutiny, Columbus chose to inspire and persevere.
We at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence demonstrate this same spirit and resiliency through our personal action and professional support to Soldiers and Army Families around the globe.
We all have weathered some rough seas in our past, but our voyage together as a team allows us to find a "new world" full of endless possibilities.
This holiday also provides an opportunity for relaxation and fun. As with Columbus and his crew, keep safety at the forefront. Know the risks, especially the shorter daylight hours, and make the right decisions to ensure you have an accident free weekend. Be careful as you embark on your planned Columbus Day weekend festivities.
Thank you, as always, for your selfless service to the great nation. Enjoy the long weekend.
Victory starts here…victory through skill.
