ACC Soldiers, civilians win Excellence in Contracting awards

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala.--Army Contracting Command Soldiers and civilians have been recognized by the secretary of the Army for excellence in contracting.

Maj. Gen. Paul Pardew, ACC commander, announced ACC's winners of the 2017 Secretary of the Army Awards for Excellence in Contracting Aug. 30 in a command-wide email. He said ACC Soldiers and civilian employees were winners in 10 of the 11 award categories.

"I am very proud of this recognition for our contracting professionals," Pardew said. "Our workforce is the engine that powers Army contracting. It's these award winners and many others like them across the ACC enterprise that make it possible for us to develop and deliver innovative contracting solutions for the warfighter."

He said ACC is the Department of Defense standard bearer for contracting across systems, installations and operational contract support.

"This just reinforces the wise decision by the Army in 2008 to establish this command."

The ACC winners were:

Secretary of the Army Excellence in Contracting Awards - Team Systems, R&D, Logistics Support (Sustainment) Contracting: Black Hawk (multi-year) IX, ACC-Redstone, Alabama; National Maintenance Strategy Acquisition Team, ACC.

Installation Level Contracting Office and/or Directorate of Contracting Award: Apache Multi-Year Team, ACC-Redstone.

Contingency Contracting Award: 923rd Contingency Contracting Battalion, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Secretary of the Army Excellence in Contracting Awards - Special Awards Exceptional Support of the AbilityOne Program Award: Mark Marchioli (NESSIE Team), ACC-Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; Richard Lee, Army Contracting Command-Rock Island, Illinois.

Outstanding Contract Specialist/Procurement Analyst: Katherine Thompson, ACC-Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

Contracting Professional of the Year: Kevin Puma, ACC-New Jersey.

Contracting NCO of the Year: Sgt. 1st Class Victor B. Huston, ACC-Orlando, Florida.

Secretary of the Army Excellence in Contracting Awards - Officer Installation Level Contracting Office and/or Directorate of Contracting Award: Lt. Col. Frances Walker, 906th Contracting Battalion, Yongsan, Korea; Jason Melofchik, ACC-New Jersey.

Specialized Services & Construction Contracting Award: Jonathan Anderson, ACC-Rock Island.

Systems, R&D, Logistics Support (Sustainment) Contracting: Emily Crittenden, ACC-Redstone; Jaclyn D'Olivo, ACC-New Jersey.
