FORT BRAGG, North Carolina (Aug. 30, 2018) -- The Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Bragg contracting office hosted more than 100 area business representatives at the Acquisition Forecast Open House Aug. 7 at the Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Colette Carrizales, the director of the MICC-Fort Bragg contracting office, provided an overview of the contracting office and the MICC's mission. Ralph Barnes, a MICC-Fort Bragg division chief, briefed upcoming contracting opportunities with Fort Bragg.
"The purpose of the forecast is to bring vendors interested in doing business with Fort Bragg together to network, and for the government to brief upcoming opportunities. Also, this event allows small businesses to share their insight to assist us in improving our best practices," said Casie Savage, a small business specialist for MICC-Fort Bragg.
Josh Beardsley, from FedBid, discussed reverse auctioning to include step-by-step instructions to vendors on how to operate the system. Also, Aregnaz Mooradian, a lead business opportunity specialist with the Small Business Administration, provided an overview of the SBA. A question-and-answer session for those in attendance was held after the acquisition forecast, which allowed for a helpful discussion between the vendors and the government.
"We welcome every opportunity that we can to engage with small business, particularly here in the Fort Bragg area," Carrizales said. "What was exciting about this year's small business forum is that we got to meet so many new small businesses that demonstrated their passion and determination to win that first 'government contract.' The fact that our small business forum is able to serve as a conduit to each and every small business to help them achieve that goal, by forecasting future requirements and providing them with the latest information on how to do business with the federal government, is humbling."
As a result of this business outreach event, small businesses are able to be more strategic in business development and responsive in seeking future small business opportunities within the MICC.

Headquartered at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, the Mission and Installation Contracting Command consists of about 1,500 military and civilian members who are responsible for contracting goods and services in support of Soldiers as well as readying trained contracting units for the operating force and contingency environment when called upon. The command is made up of two contracting support brigades, two field directorates, 30 contracting offices and nine battalions. MICC contracts are vital in feeding more than 200,000 Soldiers every day, providing many daily base operations support services at installations, facilitate training in the preparation of more than 100,000 conventional force members annually, training more than 500,000 students each year, and maintaining more than 14.4 million acres of land and 170,000 structures.
