Run for the Fallen's last mission goes through JBM-HH

August 9, 2018 1 / 2 U.S. Marine Corps spouse Pamela Potter of Chicago carries an honor and remember flag while running on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall's Hobson Drive Sunday during the final leg of America's Run for the Fallen, a remembrance tribute run which honors the men and women who died during the War on Terror. Close to 30 runners and walkers navigated a six-mile course on the joint base. The event closed with a walk to Arlington National Cemetery's Section 60 for a ceremony attended by Gold Star Families, friends, and battle buddies. Close to 30 runners and walkers assembled near Henderson Hall's Gate 3 Sunday morning to brave the humidity to knock out the final miles of the 6,100-mile, on-foot trip.
The proceedings finished when the final runner pulled up near Fort Myer's Old Post Chapel. A closing ceremony was held later in the day at Arlington National Cemetery's Section 60, where many fallen service members from the War on Terror are buried.
